We are Lienke Raben and Esther de Korte (vonik design). We are both avid designers with more than 10 years of  experience under our belts. Lienke works as a Creative Director at Clarify and does some amazing illustration and handlettering projects on the side. Esther is a full-time freelance illustrator with a passion for everything handmade, working among others on prints, packaging, and patterns.

In 2017, we turned our combined love for hand painting into a passion project named Wallnuts Murals. Since then, we’ve worked on quite a few dream jobs, ranging from cute restaurant paintings to gigantic office murals. Many of them in the Netherlands, but we’ve also been lucky enough to travel to cities like Athens, Milan, Frankfurt, San Fransisco and Washington DC.

Our projects usually begin with a (small) story or idea from the client and a good look at the location and its possibilities. Based on that, we work on our concept sketches, a design on scale and eventually the actual painting.

Wij zijn Lienke Raben en Esther de Korte (vonik design). We zijn beide gepassioneerde designers met meer dan 10 jaar ervaring. Lienke werkt als Creative director bij Clarify en daarnaast ook als freelancer aan illustratie- en handlettering projecten. Esther is fulltime freelance illustrator en heeft een passie voor alles dat handgemaakt is. Ze werkt onder andere aan prints, packaging en patronen. 

In 2017 bundelden we onze krachten en liefde voor schilderen, en ontstond Wallnuts Murals. Vanaf dat moment hebben we aan heel wat droomprojecten mogen werken, van muren in kleine restaurantjes tot gigantische kantoormuren. Veel in Nederland, maar ook daarbuiten: Athene, Milaan, Frankfurt, San Francisco en Washington DC.

Onze projecten beginnen meestal met een verhaal of idee van de klant en het bekijken (al dan niet digitaal) van de locatie en de mogelijkheden. Op basis daarvan werken we eerst aan conceptschetsen, vervolgens een schets op schaal en tot slot natuurlijk de schildering/tekening zelf!
